AB During  the  placement  of  your  epidural,  a  layer  around  the  spinal  fluid,  called  the  dura,  was  punctured  with  a  needle  unintentionally.  The  puncture  of  the  dura  happens  on  occasion  during  epidural  placement.  The  hole  allows  spinal  fluid  to  slowly  drain.
